Jayne was born in Shropshire in 1973. In 1996 she graduated from Edinburgh College of Art with a first class degree in drawing and painting; and latterly studied at Winchester School of Art in Barcelona graduating with an MA in Fine Art in 1998. She was recently awarded professional membership of the Society of Scottish Artists. She has been shortlisted for The Sunday Times Watercolour Prize in 2015, 2016 & 2018 and is in the final shortlist for the Westmorland Landscape Prize 2019.
�I think we have an increasingly transient relationship with the landscape around us. Like many other people I take endless snapshots with my phone or digital camera of the journeys I make. I think that sometimes in this digital process we lose the connection that we have with nature when we experience it hands on. Painting is a tool which enables me to study the landscape in more depth�
