OUTRAM, Cat

I have a BA Honours degree in Drawing & Painting from Edinburgh Art College. I joined Edinburgh Printmakers the summer I graduated (1981) and have been a member ever since. When made redundant from my last job at the Fruitmarket Gallery (1990) I joined the Enterprise Allowance Scheme. This enabled me to learn the basics of managing a self-employed business as an artist-printmaker, and I registered as aprofessional in 1991.Working round the birth of two sons, I initially worked only part-time, exhibiting mainly through craft fairs and the annual members shows at Edinburgh Printmakers and Visual Arts Scotland. Now my boys have grown, I continue to develop my art, and have added collagraph and mono-printing techniques with my etchings. My inspiration has always been light, along with texture and shape. I like bold composition and a strong graphic line in my pictures.
