I am an Irish mixed media textile artist currently residing in Edinburgh, who has been working as a freelancer since 2015. I received my Masters in Textile Design in 2014 from Norwich University of the Arts and was a recipient of the AHRC Award for my course of study. Before embarking on postgraduate study, I was an undergraduate student at University of Wales: Trinity Saint David: Coleg Sir Gar studying a BA (Hons) in Textile, Art, Design & Craft. On completion of my degree I received the Textile Student of the Year Award.
The inspiration for my practice focuses on Brexit and questions the impacts it will have on Ireland and the UK: visually responding to the unpredictabilitys and uncertainties that it may bring.
Colour, stitch, texture, research and imagery are key elements used within the designing and making of my work: using hand embroidery techniques on fabric to capture intricate stories: emblematically unravelling and re-working aspects of political and cultural issues.
