Edinburgh College of Art 1982-1986, BA(Hons). Known for my watercolours of flowers, plants and landscapes, colour is a central theme, together with my combination of intricate detail and a broad painterly approach. My work has been exhibited extensively in the UK and abroad including at the RSW, RWS, RI and RSA and numerous solo and group exhibitions.
October 2004: Top 20 of The Scotsman’s “Savvy Art Investors Guide’ and ’20 Scottish Artists to Buy”.
2007: Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer Purchase Prize in the RWS 21st Century Watercolour Competition, London
2008: Scotsman’s “5 Best for Scottish Watercolours”
2015: RWS Contemporary Watercolour Competition “Exhibitions Award”.
2016: shortlisted for the international watercolour prize “Marche d’Acqua”, in Italy. Since then I have been involved in leading the artists representing Scotland to the annual watercolour convention “FabrianoinAcquarello”, Italy.
In 2017: Artist in Residence at the Paper and Watermark Museum, Fabriano, Italy.
