I am an Irish mixed media textile artist currently residing in Edinburgh. Since moving to Scotland, I have completed artist residencies at the Edinburgh College of Art and George Watson’s College. I received my Master’s in Textile Design in 2014 from Norwich University of the Arts and was a recipient of the AHRC Award for my course of study. Before embarking on postgraduate study, I was an undergraduate student at University of Wales: Trinity Saint David: Coleg Sir Gar studying a BA (Hons) in Textile, Art, Design & Craft. On completion of my degree I received the Textile Student of the Year Award.
The inspiration for my practice derives from my on-going passion and interest into political issues, currently regarding Brexit and what will happen next. Colour, stitch, texture, research, imagery and text are key elements used within the designing and making of my work: analysing and combining historic techniques with contemporary design ideas to create unique textile artworks.
