Born and Bred in Edinburgh I studied Painting at Edinburgh College of Art.
Influenced by my own memories of growing up in council estates in Scotland I produce paintings that I feel portray happy memories. This inspires the bright colours, countering the common misconceptions that housing estates were bleak places. Researching what I can visually remember, I incorporate these bright colours associated with children’s playgrounds onto heavily textured surfaces. I spend many hours, sometimes weeks preparing the surface then, in contrast, spend minutes adding the image.
Texture and surface is crucial part of my practice as a painter.
My work has been shown in various galleries and institutions around the country.
